Becoming A Volunteer Fire Fighter

The Cos Cob Volunteer Fire Company provides various fire and rescue services for the residents of Cos Cob and the surrounding districts.

What we focus on encompasses:
  • Fire Suppression
  • Cold Water Rescue
  • Vehicle Extrication
  • Scene Safety
  • Public Education
By becoming a volunteer in Cos Cob, you’ll be joining an over 80 year tradition of saving lives and giving back to the residents of Cos Cob as well as the residents of Greenwich as a whole.

There are many benefits in joining:

  3. Paid fire watch for private functions
  4. Property Tax savings up to $1,000 (home or auto)
  5. $7.50 per emergency response in your personal vehicle
  6. Leadership and rank advancement

Prospective members must be at least 18 years of age.
A town physical (
Spirometry, EKG stress test, general physical tests, and a health exam), criminal background check and training will be required for those looking to become active, interior fire fighters.
For those interested in joining the Fire Explorer Program, you must be
14-18 years of age.
