Memorial Day Traditions 2018

Everywhere there are traditions that signify that summer is finally upon us. For some it is getting back in the water, or on the golf course, or grilling for the first long weekend of the year.

For us in Cos Cob the tradition is a little different. Every year before the first long weekend, summer is signified by mounting flags along the sides of the Theis bridge. Additionally we meet up with the local Boy Scouts of Greenwich to place flags on all the headstones of veterans and Greenwich first responders resting in both Putnam and St. Mary’s cemeteries. While this may be only a small gesture, we feel that it is a great way to show appreciation and patriotism. From all of us in Cos Cob we would just like to wish you all a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend, and for all who have made the ultimate sacrifice, thank you for your service.
